British tourists’ adjustment to cultural expectations in Muslim-majority countries

While many studies have examined how people in host communities adapt to tourist cultures, limited research has considered adaption destination cultures. Successful adaptation can help tourists more satisfying visits, while maladaptation may seriously decrease satisfaction. It also compromise the wider wellbeing benefits of taking a holiday. Using an approach based on grounded theory, this paper examines acquire cultural knowledge needed interpret hosts’ expectations and extent which application that results successful adaptation. Based insights from 20 interviews with British visitors Muslim-majority countries, conceptual model is developed better understand part tourists. This necessary precursor provision appropriate assistance them deal any stresses they encounter, will address adverse impacts tourism communities.
